'I caught the first sight of the shantytown from the plane; it looked like a patchwork of recycled materials. Plastic, cardboard, wood, advertising hoardings, tins, straw mats, clothes and stones are creatively put together to make shelters. As soon as you think you’ve found the limit, the place where you can finally say ‘it ends here’; you immediately realize that it was only a sand dune blocking your view. The shantytown keeps going on and on and on behind it.'
